Joe Biden’s first week in office was pretty much what you’d expect—a mixed bag.
While the president did sign a number of wide ranging, aggressive executive orders aimed at reining in some of the worst excesses of the Trump era, he’s also expressed openness to negotiating down stimulus checks and the need for a bipartisan approach to legislating broader economic relief.
I talked about the checks, and Biden in general, with the guys at Gilded Age on January 18. You can find the audio attached.
We also discussed my piece for Business Insider on January 17 calling for the demilitarization of the police for the good of national security:
In order to address the growing insurrectionist movement in the US, Biden and the Democrats must take action to demilitarize the police across the country—reclaiming federally subsidized military equipment and passing police reform at the federal level that holds officers accountable for their actions must be a priority.
On January 24, I appeared on Kenzo Shibata’s Pardon the Ignorance panel show to discuss the inauguration and the week in general:
And then on January 26, I appeared on the Nomiki Show to give my thoughts on allying with the far right (spoiler—not a fan!):
So! A busy week, with more to come, and I didn’t even touch on the Alex Morse reporting so there will be a follow up on the way.
Thanks for reading and thank you for your continued support.
