I've worked there all of this is true and more forced time = no family time!

Many years ago, our shop was on mandatory 12's M thru F, 10's on Saturday and 8's on Sunday. Did that for 3 months straight. Last day of it, I fell asleep driving in on the campus road.

I've known people who chose the overtime of 4 hours before or after their shift

There CHOICE

Those NOT ON THE OVERTIME

DESIRED list

Where Subject to 2 Hours

Based on work volume, staffing, etc.

I've done BOTH OT list

AND need you for 2 hours in my career

But continual 12 hour days

Going to wear out the EMPLOYEES

I still believe that 12 hour shifts are totally barbaric in almost any context.
