Writing a book is an exhausting process—and once it’s out, as I discovered last week, the promotion kicks in.
Which is all to say, OWNED is out now! Please consider purchasing it at your local independent bookstore or from the link below.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, here’s some press I did last week. I’ll probably do another round up of these for the weekend, so let’s start slow.
I joined tech journalist Kara Swisher, as well as writer Anne Applebaum and NYT tech reporter extraordinaire Ryan Mac, to discuss Elon Musk and his power grab. Listen here.
Then, LitHub published an excerpt from OWNED on how Musk went to the far right.
Musk began combining all his complaints into one overarching idea: the threat of wokeness, which he saw as censorious and against the meritocracy he believed existed in Silicon Valley. As Musk became more and more obsessed with woke, his right-wing friends cheered him on. Always desperately in need of approval, the world’s richest man lapped up the praise and decided it was time to get more involved in Twitter, the social media site where he was fast becoming a major celebrity.
I chatted with Ken Silverstein about the book, Glenn Greenwald, and Matt Taibbi.
I criticize liberals and the Democratic Party all the time. One reason is that I don't care about Republicans in that way, is that I'm not expecting anything from them. Somewhere along the way, Glenn lost that and he probably justifies a lot of like what he does now by saying, I used to be allied with these people and they betrayed the principles that I believed in, so fuck them, and there’s probably some of that with Taibbi as well.
Conspirituality, one of my favorite shows, hosted me to talk about the tech oligarchs and how they bought the media
At Daily Beast’s New Abnormal podcast, I broke down the argument behind the book
Bloomberg Businessweek had me on to talk media
You should be ashamed of yourself for writing a bullshit propaganda hit piece against real journalists like Greenwald & Tallibi, just because they wanted to report the truth, & advocate for free speech.
The Dissident wrote a great piece on here exposing your book for the pile of shit it is.
The part I found most satisfying is where the Dissident wrote that one of your criticisms of Greenwald was that he was arguing against censorship and supports freedom of speech, like thats a bad thing?
Haha too funny, tells me everything I need to know about you.
Funny how you lefties, who are always calling other people Nazis, turned out to be the reall censorship Nazis.
hey whats up Eoin, I'm trying to talk Ray into doing a book club with your book. Congrats!
